Well, it all started a long time ago, at least 4 generations that we can recall. It was in the mountainous region of Basilicata, Italy where Mama crafted her art of sauce making. From banging the branches of the olive trees in order to free the ripe fruit from their captors, to watering the tomato plants everyday in which there was no rain, Mama had one thing on her mind--the love of her family. It was that kind of love and dedication that went into every batch of her sauce.
When Mama passed on the recipe, it was not just a list of ingredients and steps to follow, it was also the appreciation of familial love that is absolutely necessary to create the sauce properly. This appreciation is what we keep in mind while creating our sauces for your family.
The Valerio family's pasta sauces have been commercially available for about
8 years at a local level. You can find us at all Mariano's
stores and select Jewel-Osco's.
If you are unable to find Mama Valerio's at your local grocery store,
ask the manager where the Mama Valerio's Pasta Sauce is. Help us achieve our
goals of making more families happy and keeping the Basilicata tradition
alive.
Grazie!
Here they are! Above is a picture of the first Valerios to arrive in the USA. It was last century during the 30s when they first set foot on American soil, bringing with them some of the best recipes for Italian pasta sauces, of which one could only hope to taste.
